Frequently Asked Questions
We know you’re wondering…
-
Brooklearners is an in-person enrichment program that uses Minecraft Education to teach students in grades K–8 essential skills like coding, collaboration, creativity, and conflict resolution. We offer after-school, in-school, and weekend programs throughout Brooklyn.
-
Minecraft is the most popular game in the world—and for good reason. It’s an open-ended digital sandbox that encourages problem-solving, systems thinking, and creativity. With Minecraft Education Edition, students engage in structured challenges that teach academic and real-world skills in a format they already love.
-
That’s a valid concern—and one we take seriously. (We’re parents, too!) Brooklearners turns screen time into purposeful learning time. Every session is guided, collaborative, and goal-oriented. Kids aren’t passively consuming content—they’re building, planning, negotiating, and reflecting. It’s screen time with heart and strategy.
-
So many! Minecraft Education includes lessons in math, science, language arts, history, geography, digital citizenship, storytelling, architecture, and art. At Brooklearners, we combine these core subjects with social-emotional themes—like empathy, teamwork, and communication—to create a well-rounded learning experience.
-
Not at all! Our curriculum is designed to support both beginners and experienced players. We start each session with a tutorial and ease students into building, exploring, and learning at their own pace.
-
Brooklearners doesn’t just focus on technical skills. Every session is built around social-emotional learning (SEL)—we teach kids how to collaborate, communicate, problem-solve, and lead, all through hands-on play and guided group challenges.
-
Nope! We provide everything. Our facilitators bring pre-configured laptops or tablets with Minecraft Education Edition installed, along with secure WiFi (if needed).
-
We keep our group sizes small—typically 10 to 15 students per instructor—to ensure every child gets personal attention and has space to collaborate effectively.
-
Brooklearners programs are held on-site at partner schools, community centers, and libraries across Brooklyn. We also offer pop-up sessions and weekend workshops in public spaces.
